Legendary Irish Brewmaster Fergal Murray Returns To US To Partner
With Double Down Brewing To Release New Collaboration Brew
Massachusetts Craft Brewer To Release “Dublin Down” Stout on December 1st
The two worlds of stout collide with the announcement of “Dublin Down” a new stout brewed
in collaboration with Double Down Brewing Company based in Worcester, MA and famed
Brewmaster Fergal Murray of Dublin, Ireland. For 20+ years, Fergal was one of the main
architects behind brewing the most famous stout in the world, Guinness. While here in the US,
Double Down Head Brewer Brian Wells, who previously brewed for top US craft stout producer
Left Hand Brewing in Colorado, has already been recognized for his stout brewing prowess at
Double Down, winning a medal at the prestigious World Beer Cup for his first stout, Dark
Epiphany.
“I have come to greatly admire the creativity and the quality of the craft beer scene in the US”,
said Fergal. “When I connected with Christian and we discussed working together again on
something new, I was eager to help create something that brings together the traditional world
of stout along with some of today’s more modern interpretations”.
“Having known and become friends with Fergal over the last 20 years”, said Double Down co-
Founder Christian McMahan”. “He is truly one of the great global ambassadors of the brewing
community and for our team to have the opportunity to tap into his knowledge and enthusiasm
for making great beer was amazing”, McMahan added.
“I had to pinch myself at times to make sure that this was all real and that I was actually
creating a beer with Fergal”, Wells added. “For any brewer it really is a dream come true”.
Wells concluded.
